SPINAL WELLNESS AND REHABILITATION PROGRAM

SPECIALITY PROGRAMS:

SPINAL WELLNESS AND REHABILITATION PROGRAM

The spine is a complex structure of bones, joints, cartilages and intervertebral discs.  It is held together by a complex network of load bearing muscles.

Spine health is very crucial as it is responsible for the weight bearing and movement of the human structure. Without spine we cannot stand erect.

Spine supports the head. It protects the nervous system via the spinal cord, which communicates between the brain and rest of the body. Nervous system is responsible for the motor, sensory and autonomic function of the body.

Spine is one of the key parts that are responsible for the overall quality of life. Almost 80% of the population suffer from one or the other spinal conditions in some point of life. Spinal disorder may permanently demobilize you, if no proper care is taken.

Not all the patients need immediate surgery. When treated on time, necessity for surgery can be avoided in most cases.

We offer integrated spinal wellness programs that blends modern science with traditional and holistic approach that treats the person; not just the symptoms.

True spinal wellness approach is not all about treating the symptoms. It’s about treating and reversing the root cause of the disease and to restore the wellness. We recommend surgery as the last resort to bring back wellness, when all other treatment approach fails.

We use body’s natural ability (bio-feedback mechanism) to defend itself. We use multi-disciplinary approach which is a resultant of our understanding of mechanical, neurological and structural aspects of the spine.

We focus on decompression, mobilization and correction that strengthens the core spinal muscle, re-align the spinal structure and restores the water, oxygen and nutrients in the disc.

Key objective:

Our key objective is to restore the spinal wellness using body’s self-defensive mechanism through natural resources and non-invasive techniques.

  • Acute and chronic neck pain
  • Herniated/slipped discs
  • myofascial pain syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • degenerative disc disorder
  • spinal stenosis
  • Acute and chronic low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Facet syndrome
  • Sacroiliac joint pain
  • osteoporosis of spine

Our treatment goals:

  • Understanding the root cause
  • Pain and inflammation reduction
  • Strengthening the muscles around the spine
  • Reducing disc herniation
  • To rehydrate the discs and restore its mineral and nutrient contents
  • Restoring spinal bones, joints and muscle wellness
  • Improves mobility and posture
  • Improves quality of life

The spinal wellness programs

Spinal problems are very common. The incidence and prevalence of spinal problems has been increasing mainly due to unhealthy lifestyle, bad postures and sedentary jobs. Bad postures put a lot of stress on the ligaments, muscles and joints that support the back. Sedentary lifestyle also leads to weak muscles and ligaments, which do not support the back appropriately and, thus, pre-dispose people to back pain.

Studies indicate that IT professionals and employees who sit for longer hours before the computer suffer mostly from spinal pain; around 60 per cent of population will have a significant episode at some point in their lifetime. Back pain is responsible for the highest number of manpower-hours lost in the industry. The prevalence of back pain, for example, has reached epidemic proportions.

Our programs target on mobilization, correction and decompression of spine which results in pain reduction and at the same time nourishes the discs with fluids and nutrition to maintain spinal wellness.

FAQ:

  • What is Spinal wellness program?
What is Spinal wellness program?

Spinal wellness and rehabilitation is a spinal disc rehabilitation program that uses FDA cleared medical technology that gently stretches the spine and decompresses the discs. This therapy is offered along with a series of other treatment programs in combination that can help restoring the spine health and improve posture and function. It is programmed for the treatment of lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica and few other spinal related conditions.

  • How does it work?
How does it work?

The therapy applies computer-controlled pulling forces at precisely measured angles to gently distract (draw apart) targeted spinal segments. Spinal Decompression Distracting vertebral joints relieves pressure on the disc and any pinched nerves (a cause of sciatic pain) whilst promoting the movement and absorption of fluids and nutrients in the disc space. These fluids and nutrients are essential for disc health. Whilst distracting the vertebrae the treatment also works on tight or stiff muscles and ligaments, helping to get more movement into the joints.

The body has a natural maintenance and healing mechanism. By progressively improving the mobility in a joint, these mechanisms can operate more effectively and help to relieve pain. Warming the muscles and ligaments helps to make them more flexible and this allows a deeper and more comfortable distraction on the machine.

Along with decompression and mobilization, we also focus on core muscle strengthening, postural correction and slowing the down degenerative process. We use various combinational tools including electro therapies, supplements and exercise therapy to combat the back pain and to restore the spinal wellness.

We try to minimize the use of chemical-based drugs, injections, other invasive procedures and surgery as much as possible, instead we try to reverse the disease by stimulation body’s self-repairing mechanism and natural and herbal supplements.

  • Who is suitable for the spinal wellness program?
Who is suitable for the spinal wellness program?

It is suitable for any patients suffering with unresolved back pain, neck pain, leg pain (sciatica) or arm pain caused by spinal nerve root irritation. Most commonly, patients with degenerative disc disorders, bulging or herniated discs (slipped disc), degenerative disc disease and chronic stiffness in the lower back are candidates for treatment.

  • How many treatments will I need?
How many treatments will I need?

Depending on condition, patients may require 15-30 sessions while each session lasts between 20 to 30 minutes. Patients have a series of treatments typically spread over 4 to 6 weeks.

  • How long will the effects of treatment last?
How long will the effects of treatment last?

Evidence has shown that people who undergo a course of Spinal Decompression Therapy can see continued improvement after treatment has completed. The goal of this therapy is to relieve pain and allow segments of the spine to move freely. Improving mobility is essential to enable the body’s natural healing and maintenance mechanisms to operate more efficiently and thus give lasting improvement.

Most patients typically being seeing/feeling results within the first few treatments. Although you must keep in mind that all patients are different, age, weight, and severity of your injury do play a large role in how quickly they may feel relief.

Herniated discs generally respond within 20 sessions, while patients with degenerated discs may need ongoing therapy at regulated intervals to remain pain free. Still other patients, due to lifestyle or occupation, may also require maintenance therapy. Patients with posterior facet syndromes may achieve complete remission with 10 or fewer sessions. Research has demonstrated that most patients achieve full remission from pain after the initial treatment regimen.

  • Will I feel any pain during or after treatment?
Will I feel any pain during or after treatment?

The secondary objective of the treatment program is to make the treatment process as comfortable as possible. Patients do not typically feel any/ much pain during treatment; most are very relaxed and some even go to sleep. Patients can experience temporary /uneasiness soreness following treatment since muscles which have not been used are being worked in a new way. Cold packs are used to relieve soreness which usually passes as treatment devel

  • I have had surgery on my back in the past. Could I still be a possible candidate for this therapy?
I have had surgery on my back in the past. Could I still be a possible candidate for this therapy?

Patients who have had surgery can have treatment, provided that the surgical procedure was not within the previous six months (to allow for complete healing) and there are no surgical implants.

  • Is there an upper age limit to having these spinal therapies?
Is there an upper age limit to having these spinal therapies?

There is no upper age limit to having our therapy programs and many mature patients enjoy good outcomes with treatment. Treatment is adjusted according to the condition of the person being treated.

  • Are there any side effects to the treatments? What is its success rate?
Are there any side effects to the treatments? What is its success rate?

Most patients do not experience any adverse side effects from undergoing Spinal Decompression Therapy and other treatments offered. Spinal Decompression Therapy has undergone extensive clinical testing and has achieved substantial rates. Thousands of satisfied patients have been successfully treated with spinal decompression Therapy treatment. The success rate is around 93%.

  • Can decompression therapy treat a whiplash injury?
Can decompression therapy treat a whiplash injury?

Yes, spinal decompression therapy is an effective treatment for whiplash injury pain. Whiplash injuries affect the alignment of the cervical spine, placing pressure on nearby nerves. Spinal decompression therapy helps to restore correct alignment to the cervical spine, alleviating this compression for long-lasting pain relief. Spinal decompression therapy also treats low back pain, sciatica, and other chronic pain conditions.

  • Does Insurance cover spinal decompression and other spinal wellness programs that are offered?
Does Insurance cover spinal decompression and other spinal wellness programs that are offered?

In UAE it is mostly and Generally, YES. It is covered individually on modality basis. For rest of the world, it depends.

  • Do most patients receive therapy and rehabilitative exercises in addition to Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Do most patients receive therapy and rehabilitative exercises in addition to Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Yes. Our programs shall be given individually on modality basis. But we prefer it to be given as a combinational package along with spinal decompression because it works more effectively in combination than individual, in our experience. To reduce inflammation and assist the healing process, the supporting structures shall be treated with passive therapies (cold/heat/muscle stimulation), chiropractic adjustments (as indicated) and/or active rehabilitation in order to strengthen the spinal musculature.

What benefits I may experience?

  • relief from neck and back pain
  • increases flexibility
  • improves mobility
  • slow the effects of gravity
  • improves postural stability

Spinal Decompression Therapy and other spinal wellness combinational treatments shall save many people from spinal disorders, if treated on time. According to a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, surgery is no more effective than non-invasive treatments (or NOT THE ONLY EFFECTIVE SOLITION for spinal problems), including physiotherapy or chiropractic care, for patients with lumbar disc herniation causing sciatica. Spinal decompression (neck decompression and low back decompression) is extremely safe, FDA cleared, affordable, and very effective for many conditions such as back, neck, arm, and leg pain.
